     Note there are different internal implementations within
     <literal>libmysqlclient</literal> and <literal>mysqlnd</literal> for handling
     columns of type <literal>MYSQL_TYPE_GEOMETRY</literal>. Generally speaking,
     <literal>mysqlnd</literal> will allocate significantly less memory. For
     example, if there is a <literal>POINT</literal>
     column in a result set, <literal>libmysqlclient</literal> may pre-allocate up
     to 4GB of RAM although less than 50 bytes are
     needed for holding a <literal>POINT</literal> column in memory. Memory
     allocation is much lower, less than 50 bytes, if
     using <literal>mysqlnd</literal>.
